Srinagar, Apr 06: National Conference (NC) vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti was responsible for National Investigation Agency (NIA) summons to Hurriyat-M chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

“NIA filed an FIR against Mirwaiz in 2017 when Mehbooba Mufti was the Chief Minister of the state, so she (Mehbooba) alone is responsible for the notices NIA is sending to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” Omar said on the sidelines of a party rally in Kupwara.

He also reiterated his demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

“AFSPA should be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir the way it was revoked in Arunachal Pradesh,” Omar said.

Meanwhile, party’s candidate for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency Justice (retd.) Hasnain Masoodi today said that banning the civilian movement on the highway amounts to “collective punishment” to the people of the state.

He said that banning the movement of civilian traffic amounts to the gross violation of human rights and it will have disastrous fallout on the academic career of students.

He demanded an immediate withdrawal of the highway ban and warned people of nefarious designs of the anti-Kashmir forces.
