PDP brought RSS into J&K: NC
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Baramulla, Mar 26: Former chief minster and National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Monday charged PDP-BJP government led by Mehbooba Mufti with facilitating the entry of RSS into the state and “allowing it to take out processions brandishing guns and swords.”

“Who brought RSS into this state? Who gave permission to the RSS people to take out processions in the cities brandishing guns and swords?” Omar Abdullah asked while addressing a gathering here.

Seeking clarifications from PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on fake permanent resident certificates (PRC), Omar said the scam was exposed former PDP minister Basharat Bukhari, who has since joined NC.

“Let Mehbooba clear her stand over the fake permanent resident certificates scam unraveled by a National Conference leader and former Revenue minister Basharat Bukhari. If Mehbooba could not initiate action on fake PRC scam, then how come she would defend Article 370 and Article 35A?” questioned Omar.

He said that raids by NIA against the separatists, confiscation of property of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and execution of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) are all gifts of PDP to the gullible people of Kashmir.

He said that “Mehbooba Mufti has no real sympathy with Kashmiris”, and that “she only sheds crocodile tears for the sake of votes.”

“She started to shed tears when the BJP withdrew its support and she was no longer the chief minister. Her tears have value now and the value is your vote,” said Omar Abdullah.

“You (Mehbooba) arrested youngsters over simple Facebook posts… and today  Mehbooba says the government is strict…” Omar said.

He alleged that Mehbooba Mufti “bulldozed the special status of the state by implementing the central food supply scheme named after Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and Goods and Services Tax which have choked the economy of the poor people”.

He also accused Mufti of misusing National Investigative Agency (NIA) during PDP-BJP coalition rule in the state. “While in power, she (Mehbooba)  allowed the NIA to raid the residences of separatists and arrest them under draconian laws.

“As chief minister, I used NIA for the release of Pak-trained militants, and not for the raids at the residences of separatists and arresting them under stringent laws,” Omar Abdullah claimed.

He also targeted the Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone for sending a letter on government formation to Governor “to head a BJP government and sabotage the takeover by Altaf Bukhari as chief minister of PDP-Congress-NC government in the state.

“Sajad Lone also sent the letter. Who were supporting him? He (Lone) had support of all the BJP MLAs So it is very clear that voting Sajad Lone will be voting for Modi. Who in Kashmir will support BJP and Modi who are adamant to erode Article 370?” he said.

Omar said that the BJP has a clear policy to revoke Article 35-A, and destroy the special status and identity of Jammu and Kashmir. “Will you people support these BJP-backed people?” Omar asked the gathering.

He urged the people to vote for the person “who will fight for the special status of J&K in parliament, for your rights, for your identity and for your development.”

Omar went on to say that in north Kashmir, he sees only one candidate in the field – “he is the one who at times makes my blood pressure pump up, and that candidate is Mohammad Akbar Lone.”

“Akbar Lone is honest at heart…he speaks what is in his heart…,” Omar said.

Says slain Hajin minor’s family struggling

Srinagar, Mar 26: Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the family of 11-year-old boy Atif Mir was struggling to come to terms after the latter was killed during a gunfight in Hajin area of north Kashmir.

“His family are struggling to come to terms with their loss, especially his parents & 2 older sisters. May Allah grant young Atif Mir place in Jannat (sic),” Omar said in a tweet.

“Returning just now from Hajin where I had gone to condole the death of young Atif. Atif was an 11 year old boy, the only son of his parents, killed after he was taken hostage by militants last week,” Omar said on Twitter.

“There can be nothing worse for a father than to lend shoulder to his young child’s coffin & nothing worse for a mother than to grieve at her young child’s grave. Kashmir has seen too much of this suffering heaped on parents.”

Police had said Atif was killed after he was taken hostage by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants during a gunfight in Mir Mohalla area of Hajin last week that saw the killing of two LeT militants.

NC also calls its workers ‘real mujahideen’

Srinagar, Mar 26: A senior National Conference (NC) leader on Tuesday said that the workers of his party were “real mujahideen” (warriors) as they were working hard to bring peace to Jammu and Kashmir.

“NC leaders and workers are working hard for the return of peace to Kashmir. Our workers are real mujahideen,” said NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar while addressing a public gathering in Baramulla.

He said NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah “gave his life for the common people” of Kashmir.

“He gave land and education to the people and even was jailed for the people. Today, those who are pointing fingers at us should first look at themselves. Our party has always strived for the poor,” said Sagar in his address to the workers, adding: “Aapki tanzeem ek mujahidoon ki Jamaat hai, hakeeki mujahid.”

Sagar said that the contribution of NC towards Kashmir was known to all and that the party candidates will win all the three seats in Kashmir in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Pertinently, last week the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti had also called her workers as “real mujahideen.”
