The assailants also escaped with his bag containing Rs 1.95 lakh, said a report.

They said that Kolkata police has also filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Ballygunge Railway station. However, no one has been arrested in this connection so far.

Reports quoting Shakoor said that he was attacked by four persons. “When I tried to resist, they attacked me with knife and stole my bag that contained Rs 1,95,000,” Shakoor was quoted as having said.

Reportedly, he was rescued by one of the fellow Kashmiri traders, who could only reach the spot almost an hour later.

This is the second reported assault on a Kashmiri shawl seller in West Bengal. Earlier, Javaid Ahmad Khan of the same village was attacked by a violent mob in the eastern state. A video of the attack had gone viral on social media.
