PHC, GMS Sheeri kick start plantation drives

Baramulla, March 16: Health Department in collaboration with Social Forestry Division Baramulla organized a plantation drive at Primary Health Center (PHC) Sheeri and adjacent institutions including Government Middle School Sheeri Payeen on Saturday.

The plantation drive was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr. Bashir Ahmed Chalkoo flanked by Chief General Manger NHPC Manoj Kumar, DFO Social Forestry Dr. Javid Iqbal, Block Medical Officer Sheeri Dr. Sheikh Farooq and other officers of NHPC and health department.

“Apart from medicines, a healthy atmosphere is essential for patients to recovery early. We carry out plantation drives in health institutions to beautify the hospitals and improve the aesthetics of hospital campus,” said CMO Baramulla Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo.

BMO Sheeri Dr. Farooq Ahmed said that 200 promote the values of cleanliness and respect for environment to provide hygienic and clean health environment to patients, “We started the cleanliness drive and later carried out a plantation drive in the hospital for better healthcare.”

Later, the plantation drive was carried out in the premises of Government Middle School Sheeri which as inaugurated by CMO Baramulla, BMO Sheeri and Headmaster GMS Sheeri Hafeeza Bano who were joined by teachers and students.

Earlier, Chief General Manager NHPC Manoj Kumar dedicated an Automatic Urine Analyzer (AUA) worth sixty five thousand to PHC Sheeri under CSR which will help the immediate testing of Urine for diagnosis purposes.

“We will provide an Ultra Sound (USG) machine and more machines like CBC and others for PHC sheeri in future,” he assured.

Meanwhile BMO sheeri Dr Sheikh Farooq and CGM NHPC Manoj Kumar urged participants to go for maximum plantation of saplings during current month as it is favourable month for planting trees.

“The students, staff of all intuitions were involved in the plantation drive and we are highly grateful to social forestry department for supplying saplings of trees and also to help in the plantation,” said Principal GMS Sheeri Hafeeza Bano.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Javid Iqbal hailed the enthusiasm and support of health and education department for carrying out the large scale plantation drive as social forestry division Baramulla has target of planting more than one lac plants this year.
