DC Jammu reviews preparedness for General Elections

JAMMU MARCH 13: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), AROs and other concerned officers to review and discuss the preparedness for the General Elections.

The DEO directed the officers to identify the vulnerable, critical and sensitive Polling stations without any further delay. They were also asked to ensure Assured Minimum Facilities at all the polling stations, especially for people with disabilities, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

The DEO further asked the officers to submit the list of the polling stations with sufficient space to develop those as Model Polling stations.

The officers were also asked to identify the places for holing Political meetings, rallies etc and provide the details immediately for its notification. The DC asked the concerned  to ensure that no government building be used for election campaigning during the process of Elections.

He asked the concerned officers to thoroughly study all the instructions pertaining to Model code of conduct, Checklist of EROs/AROs, Compendium of Expenditure Monitoring system etc. He also directed them to identify sufficient number of officials, who can be imparted necessary training for operating EVM/VVPAT.

Various other points pertaining to C-vigil App, removal of duplicity in electoral rolls, purification of electoral images, removal of logical errors etc were also discussed at the meeting.

The DC also asked for identifying suitable space for establishment of Strong rooms with CCTV facilities for storage of EVMs and VVPATs.
