“As the operation continued, militants hiding in a residential house opened fire triggering an encounter,” said the sources.

During the exchange of fire, the house caught fire and was damaged, said sources.

Sources further said that charred bodies of three militants were recovered from the encounter site and two AK 47 Rifles and a pistol were recovered from there.

Though the identity of the killed militants is yet to be ascertained, sources said that they reportedly were affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group which owned the Lethpora suicide attack that killed more than 40 CRPF men.

However, there was no word of confirmation from Police or Army when this report was being filed.

Soon after the gunfight, clashes erupted between youth and forces in the Tral township and internet services were suspended in the police district Awantipora.
