Handicrafts deptt organizes artisan awareness camp at Kulgam

KULGAM, MARCH 09: Department of Handicrafts today organized an awareness camp at town hall Kulgam with an objective to make artisans and the general public aware of various welfare programmes and schemes of the department.

The camp was attended by a large number of artisans from different areas of the district. They were informed about the schemes and training programmes of Handicrafts Department.

Speaking on the occasion ACR Kulgam Mir Imtiyaz ul Aziz urged artisans to come forward and take benefits of various schemes of the department meant to improve their socio-economic condition. He also called for organising more awareness camps in other areas of the district to aware the people about the schemes of the department.

Assistant Director Handicrafts Kulgam highlighted the schemes run by the Department. He said that the main objective of organizing this camp is to generate awareness among artisans and general stakeholders about various schemes of handicraft department.

During the awareness camp, Handicrafts Training Officer  Kulgam  Hameed Ullah Wani educated the participants about various schemes launched by the department including Micro Enterprises, Self Help Groups and various insurance policies meant to improve the socio-economic condition of the women living in rural areas. He further said that provision of loan assistance is also available for the artisans to set up their income generating units and artisans should come forward to avail such facilities.

ACR Kulgam also distributed life time Artisan registration cards among artisans who are registered in the department.

Assistant Director employment, District Industries manager Kulgam, LEAD Bank manager and other officers and officials of handicrafts department were present on the occasion.
