Ganai directs FCS&CA, Oil companies to buffer stock of essential supplies

JAMMU, MARCH 07: Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, today asked the Food, Civil Supplies & CA Department and Oil companies to issued directions for maintaining enough buffer stock of food grains and petroleum products in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

The Advisor said this while chairing a meeting with the officers of the FCS&CA Department, Food Corporation of India and the representatives of Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum here.

The meeting was called to take firsthand appraisal of the to-date stock and supply position in the state.

Commissioner/ Secretary, FCS&CA, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director FC S& CA Jammu, Jatinder Singh and SRM FCI, Sandeep Deora attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Advisor said that in view of the improvement in weather conditions and opening of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the FCI must ensure that all trucks reach Srinagar in time so that there is no shortage of essential commodities in Kashmir Division. He was briefed by SRM FCI that adequate stocks at Mir Bazar, Qazigund and Lethpora granaries are available and with the arrival of additional truckloads, the supply position will be further replenished.

The shortfall during the month of February is being met and 2000 MT of foodgrains are being supplied to the valley on a daily basis, the meeting was told.

Advising the officers to work in a pre-emptive mode, Ganai asked the officers to ensure timely lifting, transportation, storage and distribution of ration. He also directed the oil companies to maintain adequate contingency stock of LPG so that the consumers in the State do not face any hardships.

The Advisor also issued directions to SSP National Highway to ensure hassle-free movement of trucks carrying LPG and other essential commodities from Jammu to Srinagar on the National Highway.
