Three drug peddlers arrested in Sopore: Police

Sopore, March 05: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three persons following an action against those involved in drug peddling in Sopore.

In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the J&K said: “One person along with the associate was arrested during Naka checking at Laiser Crossing and two persons were arrested at Parrypora crossing for the drug offences. This is a part of proactive action initiated by Sopore police against the drug peddlers.”

“Officers have seized 135 grams of Charas from drug peddler namely Yasir Mushtaq Lone son of Mushtaq Ahmad Lone resident of Patoosa Rafiabad and 275 grams of Charas from drug peddlers namely Showkat Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Rasool Khan and Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Reban Sopore,” he said.

Cases were registered in both incidents under relevant sections of law.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” reads the statement.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,” it added.
