Skandan flags off new state of Art SRTC bus fleet

JAMMU, MARCH 01: Advisor to Governor, K Skandan today flagged of 16 new “state of art buses” of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) from Tourist Receipt Centre (TRC), Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention that with introduction of these “state of art modernized” new buses to the already operating fleet of the JKSRTC, the commuters would be provided the requisite and modern facilities of travelling at par with the metro cities of the country. They would be having closed circuit television (CCTV), Global Positioning System (GPS and Panic button besides various other new technological interventions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor hoped that with the introduction of these new buses, the commuters commuting from different districts of the State and also from one division to other are provided facilities at par with those of the buses operating in the metro cities of the country. The occupancy level of these buses would also show a quantum jump with addition of these new technological interventions, he hoped.

The Advisor said that since SRTC is one of the oldest operating bus fleets in the country, necessary measures are being initiated for its brand promotion and revival as well.

Principal Secretary, Transport Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Managing Director, JKSRTC Bilal Ahmad Bhat and other officers of JKSRTC and Transport Department were present on the occasion.
