DC Bandipora hands over two auto-rickshaws to fishermen under ‘Blue Revolution’ scheme

BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 26: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora Shahbaz Mirza Tuesday today handed over two auto-rickshaws to fishermen under Blue Revolution Scheme.

Under the scheme, Government provides two-wheelers and auto trolleys to fishermen at subsidized prices enabling them to transport their catch to the nearest markets.

He also handed-over an equipment kit to a private trout unit owner and interacted with the farmers urging them to increase their production by taking help of various government schemes. He said several schemes have been put in place by the government for handholding of the farmers to sustain their business and help them to increase their production. He stressed on the department of fisheries to create awareness among the stakeholders about the schemes in pace so that more people are benefited by the scheme.

On the occasion, the DDC urged the beneficiaries for proper utilization of the vehicle for fish transportation, stating that the scheme is being implemented to achieve economic prosperity of fishermen and fish farmers and to contribute towards food and nutritional security through optimum utilization of water resources by the fisheries development.

Assistant Director Fisheries Sajad Hussain was also present on the occasion.
