Pulwama gunfight:  Policeman killed, toll reaches 8

Pulwama: Another causality, this time a policeman, has been reportedly killed in the ongoing gunfight between forces and militants taking the death toll to eight.

According to reports, which have also ben confirmed by the police sources, a policeman was killed in the gunfight which broke out shortly after midnight in Pinglina village of Pulwama. Four army soldiers, two militants and a civilian had earlier died in the gunfight.

The slain cop has been identified as Abdul Rashid Kalas while as Sub Inspector, Azad Ahmad, has reportedly been injured in the ensuing encounter.

The injured included an army Brigadier, lieutenant colonel and also DIG South Kashmir Amit Kumar.

A source said that all the injured have been airlifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
