While speaking at the meeting, the Director Agriculture said the PM-Kisan Scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of Small and Marginal farmers in procuring inputs for proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle. The Director further said that this scheme will protect the small and marginal farmers from falling in the clutches of money lenders for meeting such expenses and ensure their continuance in the farming activities.

Andrabi said that the scheme is applicable to the farmers having land holdings less than 2 ha (40 kanals) who shall be provided  Rs.6000.00 per annum. The First installment of Rs 2000  will be credited in their accounts upto end of this month. Director instructed the officers to take the revenue officials on board while registering the farmers for taking benefits of the said scheme.

He stressed upon the officers to be in forefront while implementing all farmer friendly schemes and change the orthodox mindset associated to farming. He directed the officers to update the progress on said scheme on daily basis.

Officers of the department involved in this scheme apprised the meeting regarding the progress.
