Srinagar, Feb 12:  A rousing welcome was accorded to 20 corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation who announced their formal entry into the Peoples Democratic Party, a party spokesman said in a statement issued here today.

Welcoming them into the party fold PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri termed the entry of the corporators a positive step towards strengthening of the party at the grass roots, the spokesman said, and urged upon the new entrants to work tirelessly for the downtrodden and represent the unrepresented with earnest efforts and impeccable will.

Srinagar District President Mohammad Khurshid Alam on the occasion stated that with the joining of these corporators, PDP is heading towards emerging as a single largest party in the Municipal Corporation of Srinagar.  Alam said the new entrants  must prioritise addressing peoples woes and making themselves available for masses in times of need.

Other senior PDP leaders and legislators who were present on the occasion include Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Asiya Naqash, Noor Mohammad, Dr Ali Mohammad, Aijaz Ahmad Rather , Aijaz Qureshi and several others
