Eight cops, four civilians injured in Sgr blast; JeM claims attack

Srinagar, February 10: A Sub Inspector of CRPF along with six forces personnel and four civilians were injured after suspected militants lobbed a grenade on police party near Paladium Cinema in Lal chowk area of Srinagar district in Sunday evening.

Reports reaching GNS said that some unknown persons hurled a grenade on police party near Paladium.

In the blast four policemen, three CRPF men and four civilians including a woman suffered splinter injuries.

SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray also confirmed the greande attack.

The injured were identified as constable Ashiq Ahmad, constable Abid, constable Nassar Ahmed, Mohd Shafi, Sub Inspector R. Muniswami of CRPF 132 bn, Constable Vishal of 132 bn CRPF and constable Davindar of 132 bn CRPF.

The injured civilians have been identified as Humaira of Hairwan, Abdul Qayoom of Mandibal Nowshehra, Taliba Gulshan of Dalgate and Shadab Shah resident of Nishat.

Meanwhile Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the responsibility of grenade attack.

A JeM spokesperson Mohammad Hassan in a statement issued to GNS said seven CRPF personnel were injured in the attack.

“The attack was carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Afzal Guru squad,” he said. (GNS)
