NHPC organizes free distribution camp at B’la

BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 06: A free distribution camp was organized by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) here today.

The camp was organized under its Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) initiative to provide free of cost aids and assistive devices to persons with disabilities.

Member Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baig was the chief guest at the function, while as District Development commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, Chief General Manager NHPC Manoj Kumar, SSP Imtiyaz Hussain, ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba besides senior officers from district administration, NHPC, ALIMCO and other people including specially abled persons were present on the occasion.

During the camp, about 200 beneficiaries were provided with free aids and appliances worth Rs 22 lakh which includes CP chairs, hearing aids, wheelchairs, MSIED kits, rollators, Joystick chairs, calliper, elbow limbs and other appliances.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP hailed the initiative of NHPC for organizing the camp wherein such deserving are being helped.

Describing the handicapped as the most important part of our society, he said that all of us have the responsibility to help them and give them a better place to live in the society. He said that the district administration should make a survey so that all such persons can be accommodated under various welfare programmes.

The DDC in his speech said that a series of schemes and programmes are already in vogue with various departments including social welfare and Education departments to benefit specially-abled persons. Encouraging the disabled, he appealed them to have a positive attitude for a dignified life in the society. He said that the district administration tries its utmost that no such person is left without the facilities.

CGM NHPC, CMO Baramulla and various others also spoke to the gathering.
