DC Bandipora flood protection works over Jhelum in Naidkhai

BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 05: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Tuesday held a public interaction program in Naidkhai area of Sonawari constituency in Bandipora district and listened to the public grievances.

He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, SDM Sumbal Syed Shahnawaz, Tehsildar Sumbal besides other concerned officials.

Several delegations and individuals called on the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about various problems faced by them in their respective areas and put forward their several demands.

The Deputy Commissioner gave patient hearing to all the visiting delegations and individuals and passed on spot directions for the early redressal of their grievances. He directed the officials to interact with public on regular basis to listen to their grievances for early redressal.

Delegations apprised DC Bandipora about issues confronting them in different sectors including PHE, electricity, Education, Healthcare, creation of more job avenues and renovation of roads, up-gradation of lanes and drains.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora informed the public that various developmental projects are under execution in the district while many more projects are in pipeline.

Dr Choudhary sanctioned an amount of Rs 50 lakh as immediate assistance under SDRF for various works including restoration works, roads, drainage, power infrastructure etc.

DC Bandipora assured the delegations that sufficient funds will be released to meet the demands of the people and that more funds are going to be released through Panchayats for the development of rural areas. He also assured that pending flood relief shall be released immediately.

The Deputy Commissioner later inspected Flood Protection works going on over Jhelum river at Gulabvari Naidkhai.  He interacted with the officers and stressed on expediting the works besides maintaining quality of works sothat the 2014 catastrophe is not repeated.

Dr Choudhary also interacted with the people at the site especially the families living on the banks of the river who are being rehabilitated. DC assured them that government will provide compensation to the affected families and they will be rehabilitated suitably.

At Bathipora, DC also sanctioned Rs 4 lakh for Middle school  Bathipora for repair works including construction of roof.

Dr Choudhary said that the aim of conducting public Darbars is to address public grievances at grass root level and instead of public coming to Government offices, administration reach out to the people at their doorstep to listen to their grievances.

Assuring early action on genuine demands, the Deputy Commissioner said the Government is committed to the development and welfare of the people. He said keen interest is being taken to mitigate the problems faced by the public especially those living in far flung areas of the district.
