Handloom dept organizes workshop cum Buyer Seller meet

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 4: The Department of Handloom Development today organized one day workshop cum Buyer Seller meet at JKTDC in which Director Handloom Development Department, Rubina Kouser was the chief guest.

The Director went around the stalls displayed and inspected the products displayed by the handloom development clusters and societies from different parts of the state. She lauded the weavers of these Handloom Clusters for their traditional products like Pashmina Shawls and Stoles, Pashmina Shawl, semi Pasmina, Basholi Pashmina/loi/blanket and others.

Rubina Kouser appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing such workshop which besides promoting state’s traditional handloom products also facilitates direct contact between the buyer and the seller. She asked the artisans and craftsman to avail the benefits of various schemes being launched by the department for their socio economic upliftment.

Earlier, Joint Director Handloom Development Department Kanta Devi informed that more than ten buyers within and outside the state besides 30 sellers from across the state attended the workshop.

During the programme, over 20 societies also displayed their products including Pashmina Shawl, semi Pasmina, Basholi Pashmina/loi/blanket and others.

Representative from Amazon also gave briefing about E- marketing to the weavers while Commercial Tax Officer Neeraj Sharma and Arvind briefed about G.S.T.

Visiting buyers evinced keen interest in the displayed handloom products.

Two Pasmina weavers namely  Kamal Kishore and Bharkat Ali of Basholi were awarded for their excellent work on Pasmina Shawl during the function.
