Director Agri lays foundation of Hi-Tech Net Sheds at Panjore, Dab Karamdin

JAMMU, JANUARY 30:  In a bid to further boost the farm income by the use of technological innovations in agriculture, Director Agriculture Jammu, H. K. Razdan, today laid foundation stone for Hi-Tech Net Sheds for Exotic Vegetables at village Dabkaramdin and Panjore of Block Marh.

Joint Director Agriculture (Extension)  Bulesh Kumar Zutshi, Deputy Director Agriculture (Central)  Jagmohan Bhat and Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu  N. K. Mishra were present on the occasion.

Director, while speaking on the occasion, said that efforts are being made to popularize high tech interventions for attracting the   educated unemployed youth towards agriculture entrepreneurship and employment generation. He congratulated the budding entrepreneurs who have taken initiative to set up this Hi-Tech Vegetable Unit.

Razdan stressed upon the farmers to go for the production of exotic and high value vegetables under protected and controlled conditions to get round the year production for high returns. He advised them to explore the full marketing potential/E-marketing of the specialized vegetable produce like Broccoli, Lettuce, Zucchini and Seedless Cucumbers which are grown under the controlled conditions as the Insect pest/ disease free and safe veggies are in high demand in the big cities.

Earlier, Sub Division Agriculture Officer Marh, R. S. Jamwal informed that these Net Sheds are being set up under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) on an area of 6000 Sq mts with the Technical Guidance of the Department of Agriculture.

S. Tajinder Singh Wazir, Member Kisan Advisory Board/Progressive farmer said that the Shade Net technology is a specialized farming technique to produce safe and high quality crops and demanded assured marketing support for high value crops.
