Srinagar, Jan 25:  Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, has criticized the recent statement of Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, terming it as ‘tokenism of solidarity’ and stated that such statements were self contradictory and had no honesty in them. Governor, in a recent statement had said that every killing was painful for him and that forces were doing a commendable job.

In a press release issued here Sehrai said that people of Kashmir could differentiate between ‘tokenism of a solidarity and true intentions. “Satya pal Malik said two things in the same breath. Feeling pained by each killing and boasting forces for doing a commendable job- such contradictory assertions carry any logic,” Sehrai said.

Stating that if Malik was of the view that extreme path opted by youth won’t solve Kashmir problem, then the government should address the real cause as the ‘sentiment-driven’ youth forced to take to such extreme path was a consequence of ‘severe repression’ and failure of political means to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

Sehrai said the People of entire J&K yearn for a final solution of the Kashmir issue to put an end to uncertainty of which they are the worst victims. “Lingering Kashmir issue is the root cause of immense sufferings of people that include death, destruction and also growing uncertainty in sub-continent,” he said. “The resolution of the issue can always be reached at provided there is a willingness to accept the facts in its historical perspective, humanity and mutual respect among the parties involved while addressing the problem.”

Sehrai also condemned what he termed as ‘turning all jails into Guantanamo Bay like prison’ for the Kashmiri detainees adding that Kashmiri prisoners were not safe in jails in and outside Kashmir division.
