Anantnag, Jan 23: Maraaz Adbee Sangam in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages organized a function at Bijbehara to commemorate Mohan Lal Aash.

In a statement issued here, a spokesman of Maraaz Adbee Sangam said: “Mohan Lal Aash was former General Secretary of MAS, a great poet and historian. Aash was considered a great poet among Hindu poets, who wrote Naat in Kashmiri language. Yousuf Jahangir and Ashraf Raavi presented papers on the literary contribution of Aash.”

“A book of Kashmiri short stories titled “The conscience of Kashmir” translated by Ashraf Raavi was also released on the occasion. Parvaiz Ali presented a paper on the book. MAS felicitated Ashraf Raavi by presenting him a citation and a shawl,” he said adding the function was presided over by Ghulam Nabi Aatash, while Zahid Mukhtar and A Raazi were also present in the presidium.

“Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages held a district Mushaira on the occasion presided by Sultan Mohammad Sultan and G M Aashti. Muzafar Gazaal and Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather conducted the proceedings of the function,” the spokesman added.
