The protesters were holding placards which read “We want justice”, “regularization is our right, “Equal pay for equal work”.

The protesters said, “We are serving in health sector from a very longtime now but nobody cares about us. From many years we are demanding regularization of our services and equal pay for equal work but our demands are falling on deaf ears.”

Spokesperson NHM association Ganderbal, Dr .Muzamil, said: “Regularization is our long pending demand. Government is saying there are many issues vis -a- vis our demand of regularization. We are being asked to constitute a committee for highlighting our issues.”

“It is very hard for us to make ends meet with the meager salary that we are being paid,” he said.

Vice-president The District NHM coordination association, Ajaz Ahmad, said: “Last year we protested for 35 days and many promises were made by the government but those promises are yet to be fulfilled.”

“We will continue to protest for our genuine demands,” he added.
