PULWAMA, JANUARY 16: District Development Commissioner   Ghulam Mohammad Dar today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness of departments in view of the forecast about moderate to heavy snowfall across Kashmir division.

Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Superintendent Engineer of Power Development Department, Executive Engineers from R&B, PHE, PDD, STD,  and other concerned were also present in the meeting.

The DDC directed the concerned to stay active to the weather prediction for the next few days and ensure that the action plan for restoration of basic services/supplies is implemented in synergy and coordination with all the line departments on real time basis for which control room at the district and sub-district headquarters will be kept functional 24×7.

Executive Engineer R&B  informed that the men and machinery is fully geared up to meet any eventuality on account of inclement weather. He said that adequate number of snow clearance machines and bulldozers have been deployed in advance at specific locations across the district besides water supply tankers.

Regarding power, SE PDD, said that the department has already pruned trees in the vicinity of transmission lines and there will be minimal disruption in power supply due to snowfall. Moreover, adequate buffer stock of transformers is available in the district.

Preparedness with regard to snow clearance of roads and bye lanes, restoration of water supply schemes, traffic management, rescue plan etc were discussed threadbare.
