KARGIL JANUARY 16: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Punchok Tashi on Tuesday called on the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Sarita Chauhan and urged upon her to consider opening of a Degree College at Sankoo, Kargil.

The CEC informed the Commissioner Secretary that Sankoo area on account of being the most populated habitation of Kargil district deserves to be provided with a Degree College which has also been a long pending demand of the people of the area. The CEC further said that land for establishment of new Degree College has already been identified by LAHDC, Kargil. He said the opening of the college will go a long way in lessening the burden on the already overburdened Degree College Kargil.

The Commissioner Secretary assured the CEC and the EC Tourism of keeping the proposal in pipeline for consideration by the Government.

The CEC and the EC also raised various other issues like construction of staff quarters and hostel complex at Degree College.

Earlier, the CEC also met the Chairperson Board of School Education Prof Veena Pandita and urged upon her for early declaration of the results of the students of Class 10th and 12th of Kargil District which has been delayed owing to certain reasons.

The Chairperson Board of School Education assured the CEC and the EC that the results of Class 10th and 12th pertaining to Kargil shall be declared within a week’s time.

Besides issues like establishment of already approved Sub Board Office at Padum Zanskar and establishment of collection center of the Board also came up for discussion to which the Chairperson has assured of taking concrete measures.

Meanwhile, the CEC and the EC Tourism have conveyed their gratitude to the Governor’s Administration for filling up the 52 vacant posts of Doctors in Kargil District.
