“We are facing lot of problems in the division as there is no one to clear pending bills besides tender and payment process has got hampered. We are suffering badly as it has been a month now and no one has been posted in the division,” said a delegation led by president Flood Control and Irrigation Contractors Association Baramulla (FCCAB) Abdul Rahim Bhat.

“We are running from pillar to post for payment of bills of the works done by us. We have taken loans from banks and owe money to labourers, masons and stone quarries,” added Bhat.

Besides, employees of the department said that they have been facing lot of issues and problems after executive engineer was promoted.

“Departmental works also suffer when there is no head to sign the documents and communications. We are helpless. We also demand that an executive engineer must be posted in the division,” said an employee on conditions of anonymity.

When contacted Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department Farooq A Shah told Kashmir Images on phone that within a week an executive engineer will be posted there.

“We are on it and within one week an executive engineer will be posted there,” Farooq Shah added.
