52% students clear Class 12th exams

Srinagar, Jan 07: While as only 52 percent of 69,969 students were able to clear the Higher Secondary Part-II (12th class) examinations in Kashmir division, some students of the government schools did good showing by bagging few top positions.

In Arts stream, the students of government-run educational institutions walked away with first five positions scoring between 98.6 percent and 98 percent marks, an official press release informed.

It said Hadia Noor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh topped the merit list in Arts stream securing 493 marks out of 500 while Tanzeela Hassan of the same school scored 492/500, Towseef Shafi of Government Higher Secondary School, Srigufwara, Anantnag 491/500, Zaira Shafi of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh 491/500 and Irtiza Jan of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Amira Kadal 490/500.

In Science stream as well, the students of government-run schools secured 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th rank scoring between 98.6 percent and 98 percent marks.

In Science stream, Wafeeqa Qazi of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Amira Kadal scored 493/500, Yusra Shabir of Government Higher Secondary School, Kanir, Chadoora 491/500, Iqra Khan of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh 490/500, Sana Sangeen of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Soura 490/500 and Mehraj-ud-Din Shah of Government Higher Secondary School, Drugmulla, Kupwara 488/500.

In Commerce stream, students of government-run schools bagged the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th rank scoring between 97.6 percent and 96.2 percent marks.

In Commerce stream Bisma Jan of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Zadibal scored 488/500 marks, Alia Ali of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Anantnag 486/500, Sheikh Faizan Farooq of SP Higher Secondary School, MA Road, Srinagar 482/500 and Abeena Zahoor of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nawakadal 481/500.

The overall pass percentage of 12th class this year, according to JKBOSE is 52 percent, with 69969 students having appeared in the said examinations.

Interestingly, the BOSE press release, which boasts big about the top positions going to students of government-run schools, is silent about the overall pass percentage of government schools.
