Nov snowfall: Rs 7.82 Cr compensation sanctioned for 19048 orchardists of Baramulla

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 04: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash today said that the Government has sanctioned Rs 7.82 crore compensation in favour of 19048 orchardists, who suffered losses due to untimely heavy snowfall in November 2018.

The DDC stated this while chairing a meeting of revenue and horticulture officers to finalise the process for disbursement of the compensation.

Emphasizing upon the concerned officers to work in coordination, the DDC said that the   amount will be given to the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. He stressed for timely completion of all requisite formalities which includes updation of sixteen-digit account numbers and other necessary requirements.

Meanwhile, Dr Naqash also reviewed the functioning of Grievance redressal cell wherein he was informed by ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba that a total of 291 grievances were registered of which 209 were redressed within stipulated timeframe whereas the remaining 82 grievances are under process.

The DDC also took a review of land records digitisation programme which is being carried out under Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP). The DDC directed for expediting the process of updation of Jamabandis and Girdawaris for time bound completion.

The meeting was attended by ADC Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR Baramulla Mohammad Abdullah Malik, District Horticulture officer Baramulla, Tehsildars and other functionaries.
