Unorganized workers to get skill training in ITIs:  Saurabh Bhagat

JAMMU, JANUARY 02: The Government has decided to impart skill upgradation training to unorganized workers through Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) for a select number of trades like tailoring, automobile mechanic, computer application, fruit and food preservation, Refrigeration and Air conditioning repair etc.

The registration of unorganized workers has already been started and they will be imparted skill upgradation training through Industrial Training Institutes, Commissioner/Secretary, Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat said today, here at a meeting.

Pertinently, the state Labour department has started massive exercise for registration of unorganised workers in compliance to the directions of Supreme Court of India

The meeting was attended by Director Employment, Yash Pal Suman, Joint Director Employment, Anu Bhel, Deputy Director Central Shahid Mahmood and all the District Employment Officer of Jammu province.

After registration, the District Employment & Counselling Centre will recommend the unorganized workers to the concerned district ITIs in different batches starting from January 15, 2019, Bhaghat said.

The Commissioner/Secretary laid emphasis on generating mass awareness for registration of unorganized workers. He directed the district officers to follow the guidelines and ensure that the time line, as fixed by the Supreme Court, is adhered. District Employment & Counselling Centres were also given instructions to involve district administration, local representatives, PRIs etc. so that the scheme is made a success.
