Month-long ‘Khelo India’ competitions conclude in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER 29: The month-long block-wise sports and physical Aptitude test for students organized by district Administration Udhampur under ‘Khelo India’ sports for peace and development programme concluded here today.

District Development Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest while as Manager Sports Council UdhampurShaktish Chopra presided over the function on the concluding day of the event.

While briefing about the month-long, the Manager Sports Council, informed that over 2500 participants boys and girls in the age group of 15 to 18 years drawn from different educational institutions, sports clubs, as well as locals besides school dropouts participated in the ‘Khelo India’ competitions.

More than seven sports discipline including 30 Mtr flying, 800 mtr, 6X10 Mtr Shuttlerun, Medicine Ball Throw, standing broad jump, Bend& reach, Height and weight were the part of the month-long event.

On the occasion, DDC threw light on the importance of sports in everyday life. He appreciated the efforts made by officials of Sports council and Department of Youth Services & Sports Udhampur for successful conducts of the event.

DDC said that aim of Khelo India initiative is to provide a platform to young sportsman to show their hidden talent and shape their career in sports.

He advised the youths to maintain discipline and play with sportsman spirit.

Among others, Chief Planning Officer, DIO Udhampur, Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Zonal Physical Education Officers, Education Masters, Physical Education Teachers and students from different schools were also present on the occasion.
