Srinagar, Dec 27: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Thursday condemned, what he termed as “ill treatment and solitary confinement of Mushtaq ul Islaam” at Haryana Jail

In a statement issued here, Sehrai said: “Leadership and youth day in and out are being subject to coercive &arbitrary detention for their political beliefs and even basic human rights are denied to them in prisons.”

Sehrai in his statement said: Not producing Masarat Alam before the court is against the principles of justice and prisoners rights. He said authorities used these inhuman tactics to just prolong his illegal detention.

Quoting family of Mushtaq ul islaam , Sehrai in the statement said: “The resistance leader was not even provided with necessary medical facilities. Kashmiri political detainees were not allowed to meet each other in the jail. Besides, they are provided with poor quality food, which is taking toll on their health and are being denied basic medical aid and their health has deteriorated leaving their families in a worry.

“Similar treatment is being meted out to all the Kashmiri prisoners who lodged in jails that include Kahtua, Udhampur, Kotbalwal,Haryana and Tihar where they are left to beg for medicines, let alone proper food and other items,” the statement quoted Sehrai as saying.

Meanwhile, Sehrai, in his statement, condoled the demise of mother of Journalist Noor Ul Qamrain of (Muslim Kashmir )and said that we share the grief with bereaved family and pray for eternal peace of deceased and courage for the family to bear this painful loss.
