DC Shopian reviews preparedness for Republic Day

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 24: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmad today reviewed the arrangements and preparedness for   Republic Day function in the district Shopian here at a meeting.

The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian where the chief guest will unfurl the national flag and take salute during the march past.

The contingents of J&K Police, Home Guard, CRPF, Forest Protection & Fire and Emergency Services, NCC and Platoons of different government and private educational institutions will participate in the march past.

Other arrangements include ShahnaiWadan, proper seating as per protocol, refreshment, public address system, cultural programme, illumination of Government buildings, electricity supply, backup supply, fire tenders, and ambulances were discussed in threadbare.

The DC directed PDD and PHE for uninterrupted power and potable water supply in the prescribed venue. He also directed the health department to deploy an adequate number of medical camps at the venue with proper staff ambulance and Medicare facilities. The traffic department was directed to provide adequate space for parking of vehicles at the venue.

The DC called for close coordination among the concerned departments for the smooth, colourful and peaceful conduct of the republic day celebrations. He also directed the concerned department to invite newly elected cooperators, sarpanchs and panchs as well as prominent and senior citizens of the district.

Meanwhile, committees were also constituted for finalize the solution of cultural items and programmes for the republic day function.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian Mohammad Saleem Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shabir Hussain, Executive Engineers from R&B, PHE, PDD, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, and other concerned officers from Police and Civil are present in the meeting.
