JAMMU, DECEMBER 21: Syed Muried Hussain Shah (KAS), DC Excise Jammu, under orders of transfer as Director Land Management, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) shall be deemed to have been placed under suspension with immediate effect, an official spokesman said here today.

During his suspension, Shah will remain attached with the General Administration Department, said the spokesman.

The order was issued after Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu on Friday caught red-handed Syed Muried Hussain Shah, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 2,00,000.

Shah had demanded bribe from one Col (retd) HDS Rainal for clearing his file for renewal of wine shop license.

Following a complaint by Col (retd) HDS Rainal in the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu, case was registered and a trap was laid during which the accused Dy. Excise Commissioner (Executive) was apprehended red-handed, while demanding and accepting the illegal gratification of Rs 2,00,000 from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses.

Shah was arrested on the spot and thereafter, search team of Anti-Corruption Bureau was also dispatched for conducting the house search of the accused at his residence situated at Paloura, Jammu. Further investigation into the matter has also been taken up.
