Governor e-inaugurates Health and Wellness Centres

JAMMU, DECEMBER 21: Governor Satya Pal Malik e-inaugurated 15 Health and Wellness Centres (H&WCs) situated in Doda, Jammu, Udhampur, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Pulwama districts, during a function organized by the National Health Mission, J&K.
K Vijay Kumar; K K Sharma, Advisors to Governor; BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary H&ME and Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to Governor were present on the occasion.
Governor observed that H&WCs which are fully functional with respect to Infrastructure, Facade Branding, Human Resource, Equipments, Drugs and Diagnostics will be instrumental in providing comprehensive Primary Health Care, and bring the health care system closer to the homes of people.
Governor presented Awards to the best performing Districts, Blocks & Health Workers during the Measles- Rubella Vaccination Campaign, launched in the State on 24th Sep, 2018 and congratulated the Health Department for its vigorous campaign in making it a complete success in just 61 days of activity.
Welcoming the 1000 Medical Officers, who have been recruited through one of the largest recruitment drive made by the Public Service Commission in the shortest possible time (42 days), Governor noted that with the recruitment of 1000 Medical Officers, the gaps in terms of shortage of manpower shall be fulfilled in far flung areas to a significant extent. He advised the medical fraternity to contribute as much as they can in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the State and set bench marks in patient care.
Citing these two examples and many other achievements of the State on varied fronts, Governor urged the print and electronic media to highlight various developmental initiatives and achievements of the State which truly reflect strength and character of its people.
K Vijay Kumar, Advisor to Governor, appreciated the Health Department for its very professional approach in making MR Vaccination Campaign a success and thanked very one associated with it.
K. K. Sharma, Advisor to Governor, lauded the progress made by the Health Department in achieving good results in vital health indicators like reduction in Infant Mortality Rate, Total Fertility Rate etc. He said that Governor’s administration is very serious in building state of the art infrastructure in the Health sector.
BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, urged the health workers to adopt modern tools and technology in filling up the gaps in healthcare delivery system.
Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary H&ME presented a brief about the programmes and initiatives of the Health Department launched for improving health care delivery system in the State.
Bhupinder Kumar, Mission Director, NHM, J&K presented a Vote of Thanks on the occasion.
