Dr Samoon chairs 4th state level NLM (PCVF-EDEG) monitoring committee meeting

JAMMU, DECEMBER 20:  Principal Secretary Sheep, Animal and Fisheries department Dr Asghar Hassan Samoon today sanctioned twenty subsidy cases for the year 2017-18 under National Livestock Mission (NLM)- Poultry Venture Fund under Entrepreneurship Development & Employment Generation (PCVF-EDEG) component here at the 4th meeting of its state level sanctioning and monitoring committee.

The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Dr Muhammad Yousuf Chaproo, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr Victor Kaul, Dr Muhammad Raza Joint Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Vinata Singh DGM NABARD, other officials of JK Bank and SBI.

The committee sanctioned Rs 70 lakh to 18 beneficiaries under the scheme which is run by department of Animal Husbandry Department in the state.  National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is the subsidy channelizing agency under Entrepreneurship Development & Employment Generation (EDEG) component of National Livestock Mission.

Directing the NABARD and banks to hold awareness camps in all the areas of the state regarding the benefits of the scheme, Dr Samoon said that it will help unemployed youth to establish poultry units.

He impressed on the NABARD officials to be liberal in funding poultry sector to encourage more youth to establish their units adding it will also decrease the import bill of poultry products to the state.

He took exception of not releasing the subsidy on time and directed for adopting hassle free and prompt system for disposal of subsidy cases.

He sought details from bank representatives about the release of payment system and the list of beneficiaries under the system in different areas of the state.
