JK SLSA bags best North Zone PLV Award

NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 17: A Para Legal Volunteer of J&K State Legal Services Authority, BilqueesTantray from Srinagar has been felicitated and awarded as best PLV for North Zone of India in Commendation Ceremony held at New Delhi.

In an impressive ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, she was awarded by Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shanker Prasad.  BilqueesTantray, who had worked for Juveniles and other weaker sections of society in Srinagar district, had been nominated as best PLV by the J&K State Legal Services Authority.

The function was organized by National Legal Services Authority which was attended by Justice Madan B. Lokur, Executive Chairman National Legal Services Authority, Justice A.K Sikri Chairman Supreme Court Legal Services Committee, Justice Gita Mittal Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Justice Rajesh Bindal Judge High court of J&K and Parton-in –Chief and Executive Chairman respectively of J&K State Legal Services Authority, besides other dignitaries.

The services being rendered by the Legal Services Institutions were highly lauded by the Union Law Minister.

On this occasion, a Pilot Project “Access to Justice for the residents of Leh and Kargil far flung areas” was also launched.

Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, Member Secretary J&K State Legal Services Authority said that the people of Ladakh who are unable in person to approach the  High Court of J&K at Jammu or Srinagar , can avail the facility of filling of their cases and pleadings like petitions, appeals, objections courters etc through the Front Offices of District Authority at Leh and Kargil and the same shall be further filed at the filling courts by State Legal Services Authority after receipt from the concerned DLSA
