Slathia exhorts people to unite for peace, isolate divisive forces

VIJAYPUR: National Conference State Secretary and former minister Surjeet Singh Slathia on Sunday  the people against the divisive politics, saying harmony was imperative for steering Jammu and Kashmir to a new era of peace, prosperity and development.

“Polarisation may have short-term gains for opportunistic elements in the political arena but ultimately it is detrimental to the larger interest of the nation and the state”, Slathia said while addressing workers at village Jerda in Ramgarh area of the Vijaypur Assembly Constituency.

Slathia said divisive politics can only generate mistrust and apprehensions among different segments of society and therefor such a situation is needed to be contained by building trust between various communities. Forging unity and strengthening the bonds of amity is the core of the political philosophy of National Conference, he added

Slathia referred to the challenges faced to the state and hoped that people will unite and isolate  the elements inimical to peace and single entity of the state. “Let’s make a pledge for further cementing the spirit of brotherhood by isolating polarizing agents”, he said and stressed the crucial need of respecting each other’s sentiments. He also urged the people to dedicate themselves to the great task of steering Jammu and Kashmir to peace.

Referring to the local issues, Slathia urged the Governor’s administration to ensure basic necessities like rations and health care besides utility services like power and drinking water in the area. He said these services are needed to be strengthened and maintained in view of the ongoing winter months. He sought adequate stocks of rations at all the sale outlets so that the rationees get standard quality of food grains. He also emphasized the need for maintaining adequate stocks of medicines in the health institutions.

Slathia assured the people that their genuine issues will be taken up at appropriate forums for seeking immediate redressal. He also urged the party functionaries to further intensify their mass outreach programme, identify problems facing to the people and highlight all these with concerned departments for solution.
