Shantmanu reviews progress under Aspirational District Programme in Kupwara

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 14: Shantmanu, Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India who is also the Prabhari Officer of Aspirational District Kupwara, Friday visited the frontier district and took detailed review regarding progress under Transformation of Aspirational District Programme.

DDC Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir while presenting the progress under TAD Scheme, informed the meeting that a multi-sectorial approach through convergence, integration and focused attention has been envisioned for achieving transformation of the district. He further informed that the district has achieved a score of 61.1% in health indicator, 74.9% in education, 16.7% in agriculture, 72.3% in basic infrastructure, 34.4% in financial inclusion indicator, with a composite score of 53.3 percentage points till October 18.

Shantmanu expressed great satisfaction over the facilities like drinking water, electricity, pupil-teacher ratio and aesthetics provided to schools in the district under the programme. He lauded the coordinated efforts of district administration over the progress registered regarding saturation in the identified 7 schemes (Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, Mission Indradhanush, Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Shahhaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan) across all 222 villages in the district.

DDC Kupwara also highlighted the need for upgradation of grids for uninterrupted power supply, adequate funding under NWDRP, upgradation of Sopore-Kupwara road for hassle free movement of traffic, handicraft cluster for promoting traditional arts and crafts, additional BADP funding for meeting the objectives of Aspirational district, additional PMKV Kendras, additional resources under PPKVY to promote organic farming, enhanced funding under RKVY to cover more area under high value crops, Liquid Nitrogen Plant and funds for repairing and face lifting of schools.

Shantmanu assured that all necessary measures will be ensured towards realising the purpose of the programme and the suggestions put forth will be considered on priority. He enjoined upon the district administration to work as a team with dedication and sincerity for overall progress of the district.

Under TAD Scheme, 115 districts across 29 states have been identified on the basis of ranking achieved by them vis-a-vis certian defined parameters and indicators in five areas viz. Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Skill Development & Financial inclusion and Basic infrastructure. Baramulla and Kupwara have been identified in the state of J&K as Aspirational Districts.

Later, Prabhari Officer visited Gulgam village and inspected various works including Zabnar storage tank constructed by I&FC department under convergence mode and HS Manzhaar which has been provided with all requisite facilities under the programme.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ACR, CPO Kupwara, SEs, Exens and all district and sectoral officers.
