Interactive prog between scientists, extension workers of Agri dept held

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 12: To improve the efficiency through capacity building of extension workers, a one-day interactive training program between scientists and extension workers of the Agriculture Department was held today here at Lalmandi.

The program was organised by Chief Agriculture Office Srinagar under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme and was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi.

The Director stressed upon the extension workers to work in such a way that farmers are converted into commercial growers. He stressed on the production of high-value vegetable crops on a definite cropping pattern and as per the demand in the market. He also stressed for value edition of crops for increasing their shelf life and market value.

He directed the extension workers to see the impact of the technologies transferred to the fields and identify the success stories and deficiencies at the grass root level.

Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar stressed upon extension functionaries to work in a campaigning mode to transfer the modern technologies to the farmers and address the issues of farmers for taking Agriculture forward on modern lines and raising the economic status of farmers.

The scientists from Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture while interacting with the participants shared scientific guidelines regarding different subjects and suggested the control measures and remedies to the problems raised by field officers. Experts from the Agriculture Department also gave technical lectures about different subjects like Apiculture, Mushroom, vegetable production and other crops.

Experts from CITH, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, District Agriculture Officer Extension, District Agriculture Officer Inputs, Apiculture Development Officer, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Srinagar, SMS SDL Srinagar, AEOS, JAEOS and AEAS of Srinagar district were also present.
