Shopian: DC flags off sheep breeders for exposure tour

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 10: Deputy Commissioner Dr  Owais Ahmed today flagged off a group of 25 sheep breeders of different parts of Shopian district and 10 officials of Sheep husbandry department for a day long “farm darshan exposure”  to acquaint them with latest technological interventions in sheep husbandry sector.

During the exposure tour progressive sheep breeders will visit sheep farm Daksum Anantnag wherein they will be imparted latest knowhow of sheep breeding and rearing by experts of the field.  The tour is being organized by the Sheep husbandry department Shopian under ATMA scheme.

Earlier, the DC interacted with the sheep breeders and urged them to get themselves acquainted with the latest scientific technologies through such exposure-cum-training programmes.

He also said that requisite steps are underway to tap the potential of sheep breeding in the district and special focus is being given on generating awareness among youth to motivate them to adopt it as an economic activity.

District sheep husbandry officer, Block sheep husbandry officer, Officials of sheep husbandry department Shopian and a number of sheep farmers and members from media fraternity were also present on the occasion.
