DDC Kulgam inaugurates inter-block sports event

KULGAM, DECEMBER, 04: District Development Commissioner Kulgam Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani today inaugurated a week-long inter-block level sports event here at mini-Sports Stadium.

The event was organized by Youth Services and Sports Department Kulgam under Sports for Peace and Development and as many as 2500 students from the district will take part in different sports activities during the course of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that our children have enormous talent and potential that they demonstrate at national and international level.

On the occasion, DDC interacting with the players asked them to take up sports along with academics and channelize their potential in full. He added that sports activities have a significant impact on the social and mental development of youth adding that games inculcate sportsmanship qualities, teamwork and discipline.

Keeping in view interest of youth in sports activities, the DDC said that there is a need to provide adequate and advanced infrastructure facilities to train them at a basic level.

Later DDC visited Government Higher Secondary School Devsar where he inaugurated a week-long basketball coaching facility for girls.
