Budgam, Nov 30: The long-pending demand of people here to start cab service from Budgam to Srinagar and vice versa via Bemina route has been accepted by the authorities as the service was thrown open on Friday.

Commuters, who would immensely suffer and travel to Srinagar via Budgam-Hyderpora road only, can now visit summer capital through Bemina Khomeini Chowk.

The service would bring respite to thousands of commuters and connect Budgam, Mirgund, Budina, Nasrullahpora, Waterwani, Labertal, Sholipora, Reshipora, Sebdan, Dooru, Bemina, Khomeini Chowk, Garipora and several others areas with Srinagar.

Interestingly, the 8-Km Budgam-Bemina road is the shortest route to Srinagar and its major hospitals.

Meanwhile, locals requested commuters to make the service successful.

They said that they are thankful to concerned authorities for accepting their demand, adding that people of Budgam were constantly appealing authorities to start cab service from Budgam to Srinagar via Bemina route.

The service was initiated in presence of Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Budgam and Station House Officer Budgam.

Talking to Kashmir Images ARTO Budgam, Mubashir Jan, said that 12 vehicles would ply on the route with six each from Budgam and Srinagar.

Jan added that the number of cabs would be increased as per the requirement.
