Srinagar, Nov 30: A complete shutdown was observed on second straight day on Friday in Awantipora town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of two militants on Thursday.

All shops and business establishments remained closed while public transport was off the roads.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants — Adnan Ahmad Lone alias Uqaab, of Braw Bandina in Awantipora, and Adil Bilal Bhat alias Umair Al Hizbi of Malangpora in Pulwama — were killed in a brief gunfight with government forces in Sharshali Khrew area of Pampore township on Thursday.

Shutdown was also observed on second consecutive day in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to mourn the killing of a local militant.

Mehraj-ud-Din Khan @Maroof and Kaleemullah was killed in a gunfight along with top LeT commander Naveed Jatt in a gunfight in Chattergam area of Budgam on Wednesday morning.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads. However, thin movement of private transport was seen on the roads.

Educational institutions across Sopore town also remained closed today.
