10.87 percent voting recorded in Dangerpora Zaingair block

Sopore, Nov 29: Amid tight security and tension over the killing of local militant of Sopore, panchayat polls ended peacefully here in Dangerpora Zaingair block on Thursday.

According to Block Development Officer Dangerpora Zaingair, 10.87 percent polling was recorded during the six hour long polling which began at 8 am and ended at 2pm.

He said 277 votes out of 2548 votes were polled here.

Among 22 Panchayat Halqa and 204 Panch Wards, only four candidates were in fray for two Sarpanch Halqas, Dangerpora C and Muqam Shaheeed-Mir, while as ten Sarpanchs were elected unopposed and 10 Sarpanch Halqas will remain vacant .

The voting was held at Dangerpora, Muqam Shaheeed-Mir, Janwara and Charhar.

For Dangerpora Zaingair block 10 Sarpanchs and 19 Panchs were contesting unopposed.
