Farmers felicitated at Jhiri Mela for exemplary farm activities

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 24: An impressive prize distribution function was organized today on the second day of Jhiri Mela here to facilitate the farmers for their work in various farm activities.

The farmers were facilitated for their work in Organic Farming, Mushroom Cultivation, Apiculture, Protected Vegetable Cultivation, Vermicomposting and Self Help Groups (SHG).

The Programme was held under the instructions of Director Agriculture, Jammu H. K. Razdan and was presided over by Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, Narinder Misra.

More than 500 live exhibits of paddy, maize, vegetables, mushrooms, spices and sugarcane crops brought by the farmers of different places were displayed to the public after registration and assessment by the adjudging committee.

Farmers, on the occasion, appreciated the efforts of the Department for making the event beneficial and informative through the display of various relevant stalls, useful literature and providing detailed knowledge about the different schemes and programmes being implemented and promoted by the department.

The Mobile Plant Health Clinic working in Collaboration of CABI International attracted the attention of the farmers where live crop samples were diagnosed scientifically and solution provided on spot by Plant Doctors.

Others present on the occasion include Jagmohan Bhat, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Central), Vinod Raina, SMS (RL), J. C. Raina, Agriculture Information Officer, R. S. Jamwal, SDAO Marh,  Amanjyoti Sharma, SMS(SDL) and  Nirmal Parkash, AEO Mishriwala.
