Distt admin Bandipora holds special training for poll staff

BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 24: The District Election Authorities Bandipora on Saturday organized a special training session for polling staff of Bandipora district for the upcoming phases of Panchayat elections.

The training session was chaired by Nodal Officer Election Control Room Bandipora GM Lone and Nodal Officer Training Management, Mohammad Rafiq Parray while District level Master Trainers Mohammad Ramzan Bhat and Mohammad Iqbal Samoon imparted training to the polling staff.

The polling staff including Presiding Officers (POs), P1, P2, P3 and other concerned staff of District Bandipora were informed about the process of polling including collection of polling material, different steps to be followed during polling to ensure secrecy, powers and duties of the presiding officers, handling of ballot boxes and allied papers, counting of votes and other processes and procedures to be adopted for the smooth conduct of Panchayat elections.

On the occasion, Nodal Officer, Election Control Room Bandipora, GM Lone informed that it is essential for every Presiding Officer and other staff to understand their role and responsibilities properly so that they shall perform their duties in a professional manner for successful elections in the district.

He urged them to be in constant touch with the control room so that they can get proper guidance in case of any assistance with regard to the polling to ensure smooth conduct of the elections. He also urged them to keep control room informed about hourly voting updates.

Lone said all requisite arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the polling and that proper arrangements have been made to ferry the polling staff upto the polling booths beside the arrangements for their stay in respective polling booths. He said adequate arrangements have been made with regard to the accommodation, heating arrangement and food for the polling staff and urged the staff to contact the control room in case they have any grievance with regard to the arrangements.

During the training program, trainers advised the polling staff to go through the Election handbook for acquiring proper knowledge about the poll process. All facilities and proper support from the district administration will be provided to the polling staff, they added.

The trainers also sensitised the participants about Nomination Process, Scrutiny of Nomination Forms, Withdrawal of Candidature and procedure for submission of various forms by the candidate including affidavit and other documents, collection of stationary from Election cell, placement of ballot box, handling of voter slips, voting procedure, secrecy, security and the steps to be followed during counting besides various Do’s and Dont’s to be kept in mind during counting as well as polling.

A detailed presentation was given by the trainers regarding scrutiny, filling up of nominations, rejection of nominations, qualification of nominations and completion of polling process until the conclusion of the declaration of the results. Trainers called upon the concerned officers to stay prepared well before the polls.
