Re poll: Nambla-B records 82.45 percent

Nambla, Uri: Amid stringent security, Sarpanch Constituency of Panchayat Nambla–B of Uri recorded 82.45 percent polling in repoll held on Thursday following the election violence which disrupted the counting process leaving several injured on Saturday.

The Congress candidate Shahid Shabir who had lost by two votes earlier, has been declared elected after the counting of votes.

Official sources said that out of 1356, 1118 voters including 574 female and 544 male voters exercised their right to franchise. Two candidates are contesting.

They said that on 17th of November elections were held in the Uri including in Nambla B village. However when the counting of votes was underway two groups clashed as Congress candidate  lost by two votes in close and tough contest.

Officials said several people were injured while as some people damaged voter slips.

Following the clashes, the returning officer ordered re polling in the area.

The Congress candidate Shahid Shabir who had lost by two votes earlier, has won by 39 votes in re-poll held today.
