Locals told Kashmir Images that they were surprised to find an injured horse lying at a garbage site in Zalwaan area on the banks of Wular Lake. “The horse was hit by a vehicle in the main market and instead of giving it medical treatment, the Municipal authorities lifted the injured horse from the market by using a bulldozer and later dumped it at a garbage site here,” they added.

They alleged that the horse died at the dumping site as no medical treatment was made available for it.

While refuting the claims of locals, Executive Officer Municipal Council Bandipora, Wali Mohammad, said: “The horse was found dead and that is why it was lifted from the market and dumped near Zalwaan.”

When contacted Chief Veterinary Officer Bandipora, DR. Altaf, said: “All our officials are busy with election duty.”
