“Child Rights Week” concludes at Baramulla

Baramulla, Nov 20: District Child Welfare Committee Baramulla in collaboration with Kashmir Women for Inclusive Development and Equality (KWIDE) today organised a mega event at Children’s home Reban Sopore to mark the concluding ceremony of “National Child Rights Week”.

The week was celebrated throughout the country from 14th to 20th November during which an array of events of different natures were organised in various Children’s Homes across the district with a view to enaure security and safety of children besides highlighting their rights.

Chairperson DCWC Shafeeq ur Rehman presided over the function wherein an art competition was organized for the children. Moreover, a variety of songs, poems and other events like painting related to the child rights were performed by the students to increase and promote the awareness of child rights among people of different communities.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson highlighted the aim of the week and said that child rights oppose the child labor and child abuse. He said that there is the need to implement children oriented legislations so that the children can get their full right for surviving, developing and enjoying their childhood.

Member of the Committee Waseem Hasan Parray also spoke at the event and said that children should be protected instead of being made the victims of violence, trafficking, and abuse.  He further added that Children must get happiness and good childhood, good shelter, protection, food, education, sports, guidance, etc for a prosperous and dignified life.

Various civil society members, teachers, parents and others concerned were present on the occasion.
