71.1% turnout in Phase II of J&K Panchayat Polls

Srinagar, Nov 20: The frontier district of Kupwara recorded the highest turnout of 69.7 percent followed by Bandipora with 66.3 percent in the second phase of Panchayat elections in Kashmir Valley on Tuesday. Anantnag at 1 percent recorded the lowest turnout.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shaleen Kabra, an overwhelming 80.4 percent polling was witnessed in Jammu division and 52.2 percent in Kashmir division.

Giving district-wise details, Kabra said that Kupwara witnessed 69.7 percent, Bandipora 66.3 percent, Baramulla 11.2 percent, Ganderbal 27.4 percent, Anantnag 1 percent, Kargil, 66.5 percent, Leh 66.3 percent, Kishtwar 77.8 percent, Doda 81.7 percent, Ramban, 72.3 percent, Udhampur 83.9 percent, Kathua 78.7 percent, Rajouri 83.5 percent and Poonch 81.7 percent.

Pertinently, in the Phase-I of Panchayat Polls held on 17 November 2018, 74.1 percent polling was recorded across the State with 64.5 percent in Kashmir division and 79.5 percent in Jammu division.

For Phase-III of Panchayat Polls, voting will take place on November 24, 2018.

Leh 66.3%

Kishtwar 77.8%
