Udhampur: Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GOC-in-C, Northern Command felicitated teachers of Army Goodwill Schools at an award ceremony held in Udhampur today. The awards were given under three different categories viz Primary, Middle and Secondary level and 24 selected teachers from various Army Goodwill Schools from entire J&K were awarded for their innovative skills in teaching.

These teachers were selected after a stringent process based on their teaching ability and creation of innovative teaching aids. The awards were sponsored by Bharti Foundation and included cash prize, trophy and a certificate.

Bharti Foundation has been providing quality and technical education support to the Army Goodwill Schools for nearly three years, a defense spokesman said, adding, the CEO of Bharti Foundation Lt Col Vijay Chadda (Retd) was also present on the occasion.

At the end, the Army Commander applauded the excellent work put in by the Army Goodwill Schools in contributing towards improvement of education standards in the state of J&K. He also exhorted the teachers to be role models and mould the students to be responsible citizens of the country, said the spokesman.

Started with just four primary schools in 1998, Northern Command is currently running 45 Army Goodwill Schools under Project Sadbhavana which provides education to 15000 students and employs 1000 teaching and non teaching staff. These also include two fully residential public schools one each at Pahalgam and Rajouri.
